Disney is currently in talks with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment for a re-boot of the 1984 movie “Splash”. This remake will feature a twist on the original film, with Channing Tatum playing the part of the merman and Jillian Bell playing the love interest who, as a young child, was saved from drowning by Tatum. The idea to swap the gender of the lead roles apparently came from Bell and will provide a fresh perspective on the original storyline. This film does not yet have a release date.
